Lost Pets
It is important to visit the Humane Society at least every 48 hours to see if your animal is here. Telephone information alone may not be sufficient to identify your animal. We urge you to visit us in person to positively identify your animal. Bringing a current photo will help with identification. Your visit could help expedite a reunion with your pet, as animals often lose their collars and tags. If your animal is at the Humane Society, it will be held for 3 full business days, not including the day it came in on. After this time period has elapsed, the animal will become property of the Cowley County Humane Society.

Taking in almost 3,000 animals each year is no simple task, nor is finding homes for every adoptable animal. To supplement our rehoming efforts and save as many adoptable animal's lives as possible, we gladly work with local and national rescue organizations.
We are proud participants of PetSmart Charities' Rescue Waggin', an innovative program that partners source shelters with destination shelters in need of adoptable animals. This arrangement enables the Cowley County Humane Society to transfer up to 500 adoptable dogs each year, allowing us more time and space to rehome other animals in our care and significantly reducing our euthanasia. The Cowley County Humane Society receives approximately 1,500 lost and stray animals each year. Sadly, the majority of these animals have no visible identification, leaving us with no way to contact the animal's family. To increase your pet's chances of finding his way home, we reccommend having him microchipped. This procedure is quick and provides a lifetime of protection for you companion. Contact us if you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment for your pet. The Cowley County Humane Society is proud to provide our customers and their pets with the 24PetWatch Microchip Program. Animal Poison Control Center
